Thank You

Happy Thanksgiving! I have so many things to be thankful for but yet this year I just can't seem to be in the Holiday thankful spirit. There have been so many things that have not gone my way this year and if I was still five I would lay down on the floor and scream and kick and cry and yell "It's Not Fair!!"

But I'm 24 so I will just have to keep that all inside. Or just do it when no one is around.

When I was in High School I listened to a sermon that has stuck with me ever since. It was about Heaven, and if God loves us and created us for Himself, then why did he allow us to come suffer on Earth? Why not just let us live in Heaven with Him to begin with?

Some of you that are more bible savvy than I am may disagree but what the preacher said made a lot of sense, more now than ever. He said, without knowing pain and suffering on Earth, then we can't know and realize the Love and Perfectness of Heaven. If we don't know what it is to suffer and we don't know what it's like to be in pain, then we don't really know and appreciate Love and Goodness. Basically, you can't have good without having bad and vice versa. You can't have up without down, you can't have cold without hot. You enjoy Heaven without Earth.

So this year, I'm thankful for the stress and hardships that we are going through. I'm thankful that I have trouble paying the bills, and that Sean and I aren't getting a long as great as we could be. I'm thankful for the ill health I've had lately, and I'm thankful that Sean can't find a job. Because, one day when everything works itself out, and we don't have these struggles anymore then I'll be able to Know how wonderful I have it, I I'll be able to appreciate things so much more, because I know what it's like to not have everything.

But most of all this year I'm thankful for Earth. One day when I meet Jesus, face to face, because of my life on earth, I'll realize his glory, compassion, awesomeness, and splendor, because I've experienced the opposite and I can see the difference.

Lady Bug, Lady Bug

It is a gorgeous day here in my hometown in as my dad says, L.A. (Lower Arkansas) The weather is perfect. It couldn't be any more perfect. Well If I didn't have the flu... that would make it more perfect. I feel a whole lot better compared to yesterday and I think I'm finally on the mend. So far no fever today!!

I went outside to sit on the front porch for awhile to get a little fresh air and some sun. I thought that might make me feel better...and it did!! I wandered out into the yard and sat down in the grass and just enjoyed the cool breeze on my face and watched the leaves flutter to the ground. The colors here are beautiful and the leaves are slowing starting to fall. I love this time of year!!

I laid down in the grass and just soaked up the sun. I watched a hawk float along in the sky and listened to the crows caw and the quite sound of No Interstate! Mine and Sean's house on the Circle T is very near the Interstate, its just on the other side of the river, about half a mile. You can always hear the interstate. I really never notice the noise until I get to my hometown and then I notice the noise of the interstate is not there.

As I laid on my back and looked at the beautiful earth, the beautiful Sky, and felt the wind on my face I couldn't help but wonder how someone could experience this beauty and Not believe in God. His presence is everywhere out here. It floors me!

I took these photos earlier and they reminded me of a poem I used to say when I was little.

"Lady Bug, Lady Bug, Fly away home. Your house is on fire and your children are home!"

As I say it now I think.. How Cruel!! How Morbid! Her kids are at home and her house is on fire?! Someone save them!! When I was little I thought it was fun to catch the lady bugs and them throw them up and make them fly away while reciting that neat poem. Now I'm just disturbed....somewhere out there here house is on fire and her children are there!! Help her!!
Seriously though, Enjoy this weather!!! Fall is my favorite time of year and It's rained so much this year I haven't got to enjoy it much!! Have a wonderful end of the week!!

Thankful?

Can we get personal?? Can I complain to you a little? No? Well I'm going to anyway.

I have felt sick/like crap for about the past...well I can't remember last Time I felt 100%. If it's not one thing, it's another. I now have re-caught the cold I had two weeks ago and I can't eat with out getting really sick. So far today I've had half a bagel and a handful of peanuts. Last night I spent the night laying in the bathroom floor, afraid to move because I might throw up. I've never been so nauseated before!

Before you get all "oh you're pregnant" on me..I'm not. I'm not quite sure what's wrong though. I go to see my gastrologist tomorrow so maybe he can help me. If anyone out there reading has Celiac like me..do you have problems even when you are sure you don't consume gluten?? Or is it just me??

Anyway I wanted to hollar at you for prayer requests and also to let you know this...
As I was laying in the bathroom floor last night saying prayers to make the nausea stop I realized that it could be so much worse than just a little bit of nausea. I stopped praying for my dizziness which felt very insignificant at the moment and started praying for others that are going through so much more. Like my friend from work for instance. She has Hodgkin's Disease and is undergoing chemotherapy treatments to try and shrink the malignant tumors on her spine. She is a trooper. She is at work everyday, trashcan close by. Never misses a beat. I really wish I had her courage.

I also prayed for another co-worker whose husband was chemically burned all over his body at work last week. He's been in the hospital undergoing many surgeries and they think he will be OK. They have three young children.

I think of all the people on Kelly's Korner's prayer request list. So many people who are hurting so bad and in so much more need of prayer than me. It eases my pain a little to know that there are things much worse that could be happening in my life and I thank God that he has blessed me with so much.
We don't know why things bad happen to us but maybe your suffering will cause someone to look at their life and thank God for what they have. Maybe your suffering will make someone reevaluate their lives and cause them to put the important things first, like God and family. I'd like to challenge you to stop and think about what you are thankful for and thank God for it.

So...what else are you thankful for? I know you are thankful for your children, husbands, and families...but what else?? Leave me a post and Let me know!!

I'm thankful for fall! Only God could create something as beautiful as the changing of the leaves!...

...So comment already! Let me know what you are thankful for.

Let It Shine!

Today's Blog Hop is Words of Encouragement. Now, I don't know about you, but all my words of encouragement come from the Bible.

I would like to encourage myself, and all other Christians out there to Let God's Light shine through you, no matter what Life throws at you! Be an example of a good Christian and never let your light burn out in times of darkness.

I came across a neat little quote from Elizabeth Kubler Ross:
"People are like stained-glass windows. They sparkle and shine when the
sun is out, but when the darkness sets in, their true beauty is revealed
only if there is a light from within."

In John 8:12 Jesus says that He is the Light to the World, and if you follow him you will never be in the dark, but always have Light.

In your times of darkness, let Christ shine within you, and people will see how beautiful HE is. Psalms 21:1 says "the LORD is my light and my salvation--whom shall I fear? The LORD is the stronghold of my life--of whom shall I be afraid?" You have nothing to fear in times of Darkness if the Lord is your light!

"In the same way, let your light shine before men, that they may see your good
deeds and praise your Father in Heaven." Matthew 5:15

I hope you will Pray for Strength to keep your Light within shining at all times, even when things are a little bit Dark! I'll be praying for you!

Serious thoughts

Have you ever wanted to capture a moment, a feeling, a place in time? Just to capture it and close it in a bottle and put it somewhere safe so you could just take out that feeling and feel it over and over again? I just experienced one of those moments. I’m almost positive I could feel God’s arms around me. I felt alive, safe, happy, like nothing on Earth has ever been nor will ever be wrong.

It’s the fourth of July, a time to celebrate our Nation’s freedom. As I was sitting in my tub reading a book after a long day at the lake, I began to hear the firecrackers starting. I looked up out of the skylight and noticed it was now just after dusk. I got out of the tub and put on my robe and walked out onto the porch. I could see fireworks all around me. I could hear them all around me. I wondered, was this what it sounded like to be at war for our nation’s freedom? Was it constant noise and flashes of lights. I thought of our Nation’s bravest overseas fighting a war right now for another country’s freedom. I wondered, are they scared? I thought of all the past soldiers in all of the previous wars our country has fought. Where are they now? With God? With their families? Were they watching the fireworks somewhere? Were they watching the same fireworks I’m watching? Were they feeling the same thing I was? I was overcome with emotion and had to stop and pray to thank God for all these men and women, and for all the things he’s given me and given us as a country.

After my prayer a sudden peace flowed around me. I felt calm, happy, humbled, peaceful, euphoric if you will. I walked to my driveway and sat down on the hard rocks. I suddenly noticed the temperature. It was perfect, a little on the warm side with a slight breeze in the air. I noticed the crickets singing, so loud I almost couldn’t hear cars driving by on the highway in front of my house. I could hear the loud cracks of the fireworks from the park in town across the river. I could just see them over the tree tops. The sky was overcast and would turn the whole north sky the color of the firework. Blue.Red.Green.Orange.Yellow.White. Boom. Boom. Boom. Their sounds came a few seconds later than their light. To the west a thunderhead was rolling by in the distance. It was almost as if he were fighting for attention with the fireworks. Though it was too far away to hear the thunder, the lightning would light up the western sky every few minutes. The lightning was so bright I had to turn away from the fireworks in front of me to see if there were more to my left.

As I sat and gazed above the river at the fireworks, the dogs came to sit with me. Banjo laid at my feet and Birdie behind my back. It was almost as if they were protecting me from the loud noises that were confusing them. Boom. Boom. As I watched the fireworks I couldn’t help but keep glancing out into the pasture at the lightning bugs. They too were competing for attention in the summer sky. I felt so wonderful. If only everyone felt this way at all times, all would be right in this world. Everyone would be humble, caring, knocked to their knees at the thought of something greater than they. There would be no pain, no fear, no hurt. Isn’t this what our men and women overseas are fighting for? Isn’t this what God is fighting for? He wants us to feel this way at all times. He wants us to let him put his arms around us and give us peace. This must be what heaven feels like. Boom. Boom. Boom. Boom. Boom. Boom.

Banjo and Birdie suddenly jumped up at the sound of the firework finale. I could see the finale seconds before I heard it, I waited on it to come. Birdie got scared and barked. It knocked me out of the trance I was in. I knew my magical moment was gone. Since I can’t bottle up this feeling, I’ll wait for it to come again. I know it will come again one day; If not on Earth, then definitely in Heaven.

Happy 4th of July All!

Praise Hiim

Well It's been awhile since I last posted and a lot has happened. I could talk about a lot of things like..

  • How I got so sunburned on Saturday at the Lake that I still can't wear pants. (skirts only)
  • How Adam Lambert admitted he's gay. (shocker)
  • How I decided to use my camera money to buy my Husband a really nice Grill for our first anniversary.
  • That Birdie turned 4 months old and is growing by leaps and bounds.
  • How Dad is donating a filly to Rance's Benefit Auction that I am helping halter break.
  • Or how I got stuck crawling through a gate in a skirt and unknowingly gave the world a peak at my undies.
..but I guess I'll just leave those things for the rest of the week and talk about something else today.

Today I wanted to take the time and tell everyone how much God has blessed me in my life. Although I've been through a lot of tough times lately, God as seen me through all of it. If you will just open your heart and your mind to Him, he will keep you safe, humble, and happy at all times. I'd like to ask whoever is reading this to stop and praise God for all the things he's given you. I'd also like for you to keep in mind a couple prayer requests. I've been praying for Sean for awhile because he hates his job and is very miserable. Monday he was one of the many who were laid off due to lack of work. Please pray that he finds a job that he will be happy with. I'm looking at this lay off as an answer to a prayer, now if Sean can just find a job he's happy with!

Also, I have a few family members who are going though some trying times. One of my cousins just lost her husband to a long battle with colon cancer and they have two kids, and Sean's grandpa could possible have lymphoma, again. If you get down on yourself this week, just remember all the wonderful things God has blessed us with. Just being alive is a miracle in itself!

I'm especially thankful for moments as peaceful and as beautiful as this...
