I Heart Faces-Melissa

This week the I Heart Faces theme is "celebrating Teens"
This weekend I took photos for my youngest sister, 18 yr old Melissa.
She leaves for College in the Fall.
I thought this photo captured her Spirit and her beauty.  She hates how her eyes dissappear when she smiles, but I think it gives her character and makes her even prettier!! I don't know why I loved this particular photo so much, maybe it was the color.  It was my favorite out of all 300 photos I took.  She's so photogenic all 300 turned out great.  You can see more of the Photo shoot Here!  Happy Monday!

I Heart Faces

“I am submitting this photo into the I Heart Faces logo photo contest. By entering, I am granting I Heart Faces LLC permission to consider my photo for use in the marketing and promotion of their website.”

This weeks entry at I heart faces is all about their logo "i heart faces"   Why you ask?? Because it's their first birthday!!   Head on over to I heart faces to see other awesome photos!!

This is my youngest sister, she was nice enough to let me take her photo on the tracks..she got her jeans dirty..sorry!!

I took this of Sean when we went duck hunting a few weeks ago.

I'm not quite sure if this qualifies as an "animal" shot, but I thought it was cool that you could actually see this Lady's face!!

And last but not least the beautiful Kinley Clare who was picking up leaves, I just replaced it with an I heart faces logo!!

I Heart Faces

This week at I Heart Faces the theme is Hilarious Outtakes.  Although these aren't that hilarious, they are cute.  Over Christmas weekend in my home town, I took photos of my best friend Laci, her Mom, and son Hayden.  I took Birdie along with me because on my way to Laci's house, Birdie was on the side of the road...I guess she was trying to get back to Benton!  Good thing I found her.  I just loaded her up and took her with me (after getting on to her for wandering off.)  This turned out to be a GREAT thing because Hayden LOVED her.

Every time I'd squat to take a photo Birdie would come lick my face and Hayden would just laugh and laugh.  I got some Great photos of his cute smile because of Bird!

Hayden got a peddle tractor for Christmas that has a trailer on the back. He made Birdie get in the trailer so I could take their picture!  He thought it was so funny!

Later, Birdie started busting ice in mud puddles behind me and started eating the ice...It was really funny and I got some good shots of the whole family laughing for real!  (Check out that sun flare!!)

Hayden's pretty avid about world peace.  Or at least I think he is, because he kept throwing me peace signs.   I have about 50 shots of him with the peace sign.  I didn't realize he was doing it in half of the photos until I loaded them onto my computer...little stinker.

He was cheesin' really big in this photo and his momma said, "Hayden, make a serious face."   This is Hayden's serious face...and he threw the peace signs in last minute.  I'm thinking he's really confused on the definition of Serious...

Towards the end of the shoot, he got restless because there was a bulldozer near this old house that he wanted to go check out.  He kept yelling "NO MORE PICTURES!!"   I bribed him though and told him I'd take his photo on the bulldozer if he'd be good.

He was really good (after this shot), and we got some cool pics of him on that bulldozer!!

I heart Faces

Today at I Heart Faces it's Constructive Feedback Friday.   I took this photo of my cousin Erin and her family for their Christmas Cards.  It's great of them as a family but the color is really bothering me.  The sunset was beautiful but I can't quite get it to connect with the photo.  When I try to adjust the color it ends up making their skin look like they got really bad spray tans!

Can you help me I heart faces???  I took this photo with Erin's Canon Rebel XSI and I'm not quite sure what My settings were on, but I want some pretty colors!!

ps.  I'm also curious how could I have placed Erin's family in order to make the sunset stand out more??  I'm thinking maybe place them somewhere without trees in the background so the sunset looks closer to them??  What do you think?

I Heart Faces

Back in October I posted a photo of Sean's friend, Mike, throwing a Steer. It's on this page here. I decided to enter it in I Heart Faces' Constructive Criticism Friday and guess what!? Angie, the co-founder, asked me if she could use it for Fix it Friday! Of course, I said yes! Every Friday since then I've checked to see if my photo was the Fix it Friday photo, and every Friday I was sad to see I'd have to wait another week.

Today I haven't gotten on my webpage or I heart Faces' Webpage until now... 7:00 PM Central (Shocker, I know) Anyway I checked a new post I got from a very nice Lady thanking me for letting them use my photo for Fix it Friday.... My Thoughts were "OH MY GOSH THEY FINALLY USED IT!!!!" and then my thoughts went to, "WAIT!! What was my last post??" See, I had planned on posting this cute, witty, wonderful post on the Friday that I heart Faces used my photo. (You know I'm shameless and I'm gonna use every chance I get to get new readers and meet new people) So what was my last post.....

the top 5 hottest men...

Not cute. Not witty. Not that wonderful...and actually kinda embarrassing...(The same embarrassing I felt in Kindergarden when I kissed my crush on the playground and got in trouble by the principal) I mean, if lots of people are going to click over to see the website of the person who shot an awesome (though slightly overexposed) photo, I wanted them to see Good Photos, and interesting posts.  Not the boys that I think are cute... It's like when you meet your boyfriends parents for the first time. You want to be on your best behavior and look your nicest and put forth the most charming personality. (Ironically when I met my boyfriend's, now husbands, parents for the first time, Sean and I were making out on the couch when they unexpectedly walked in the room..not the best first impression you want to make.) I guess I'm bad at first impressions or something.

But I guess God was shining down on me because the link to my blog from I heart Faces wasn't correct and gave me a "page not found" error... And Sean's parents like me more than him:)   So bad news that people aren't going to come see my blog...good news that I didn't make a bad impression ha!!

Go Check out Fix it Friday every friday at I Heart Faces!!

Oh and just in case people do venture over here....here's a good photo, followed by a cute, funny, witty one!!  I'm off to the Rodeo in the 30 degree weather  BURR!!!

Looking at cute boys,

I Heart Faces

This weekend we celebrated Kinley's First Birthday.  We had so much fun!!  Kinley was in such a good mood after her party that Erin decided it was time for a photo shoot, and I'm always up for a photo shoot!!  This was the photo that I liked the most out of all of the cute photos Kinley Took.
This week I Heart Faces' contest is Autumn Beauty.  Even though the fall foliage isn't showing in this photo I think Kinley is the most beautiful part of this autumn photo!

HELP I Heart Faces!!

Help! I'm new at photography so I thought I would participate in the I Heart Faces Constructive Criticism thingy today.

My husband is a steer wrestler (aka bulldogger) for those of you who don't know (that's not him pictured below though) anyway I bought my Canon Rebel XS to learn to take photographs before I spend the "bigger bucks" on a more advanced camera. I bought it specifically to take Rodeo pics.

So help me out here. I was using a 300x zoom lens, not on a tripod because lets face it, who wants to carry around a tripod to rodeos?? It was really sunny obviously and I got great detail in the dirt but the bulldogger's face is way out of focus and the exposure is weird. I played with this photo in Corel PaintShopPro but this is the best I could get.

I'm not gonna lie, I have no clue how to tell you what settings I used because I've already deleted this picture off my camera, but I'm pretty sure I was in Tv mode and it was up close to has fast as I could get it to go.

***Edited to add
Focal Length: 281.00mm
Exposure Time: 0.0003s (1/4000
Aperture: f/5.6
ISO equiv: 800
White Balance: Manual
Metering Mode: Center Weight
Exposure: Shutter Priority
Thanks Jessica!! Didn't know that was possible!***

What can I do to make these more clear??? Help!

Also... How in the world do you take great photos at Night Rodeos?? If I turn the ISO up to get a clean shot I've got white noise galore. With the largest aperture I can't get a clear shot, it's too blurry. I've been told to get a lens with a larger aperture, 4.5 is what I'm using now. I can't afford to buy a new lens right now... any suggestions???

Thank you for all the help I can get!!!
