Random Things

Random Tuesday Thoughts...

I've been so busy at work I've abandoned my blog.

Momma's Birthday was yesterday.  She turned 29*..Happy Birthday Mom!!

Last night Sean and I had a really big important discussion about The Chocolate Children.  We** decided that since it's getting warmer outside that they need to start staying outside.  Their shedding is getting unbareable and our house is being over run by dog hair and I'm pretty sure I saw a dust bunny the size of a small cat run under the bed last night.  No matter how much I clean, mop, vacuum, sweep, or lint roll, the hair multiplies like rabbits.  I finally decided enough was enough when I was doing yoga at the gym, took my shoes off, and my socks were COVERED in chocolate hair.

* Maybe she's not 29
** By we I mean Sean

We put the dogs outside last night, made sure their bed was warm enough and  went inside and had a peaceful nights sleep.  I awoke this morning to two dogs asleep beside the bed.  I did not let them in, Sean did not let them in.  I have NO IDEA how they got inside...  It still remains a mystery...though I vaguely remember dreaming of dogs last night.  We've decided I slept walked and let the dogs in...this isn't good.

I left my computer charger at my parents house in Nashville this weekend.  I have an apple.  I went to best buy to buy a new charger but then changed my mind when I saw they were $75!!!   I promptly called mom and asked her to mail it so I am without a personal computer until it arrives.  Which also means that unless work slows down (outlook not good)  Then my blog will be boring and pictureless for a few days a posts will be few and far between.

I have a new obsession with Lipton Diet Green Tea with Citrus.  It makes my taste buds very happy and has replaced my obsession with Coke Zero.  He will be missed but replaced with a much healthier Man.

I watched American Pickers last night on the History Channel and I want to go Antique shopping ASAP!  I'm kind of wanting to go this weekend so that may be a big possiblity unless I get bored with the Idea by then.

Did anyone Catch House last night??   It was ok, but next weeks episode looks SO good!!  This week was about a psychopath that has a heart condition and they can't figure out why. I had no idea that Psychcopaths couldn't feel emotion.  Is it sad that the only scientific stuff I learn is from Sitcoms (And Mythbusters)??  And is it really all accurate??

My workouts are going GREAT!  I worked out four times last week and have gotten to where I can run a mile in 10 minutes.  My goal is 8 minutes.  Last night I probably would've met that goal but the gym was packed and the only treadmill open was next to a guy who smelled like sweat and I almost threw up he smelled so bad and I had to stop running after I couldn't stand the smell any longer.  Thankfully I had already ran a mile during warm up so I didn't really miss out on much.  I do feel like Barbie though because I worked out my arms and they are so sore I cannot straighten them.   Total Weight Loss:   about 5 lbs (water weight but who cares!!)

This has been the most boring and longest post ever.  I do hope that everyone had a wonderful weekend and I hope your week gets better and better!  I will post when I can but until the mail man brings my computer charger I can't promise anything...and if you read my blog you know the Mail man in this area can't be trusted!

Happy Tuesday!!!!!

Letters

I sent out my Christmas Cards today!  Finally that is done.  One of the cards went to my Great Grandmother who is 94 I believe.  She mentioned to my aunt that she just loves to get mail.  Usually my aunt sends her e-mails but she just so happened to send her a hand written letter and my Grandma told her how much she enjoyed reading her hand written letters and how she has almost worn out the letter because she has read it so many times.

I decided to put a hand written letter in my card to my Grandma so she'd have something else to read!  On a legal pad, hand written, it came to two pages.  I was quite proud of my handwriting skills, I had forgotten how pretty my handwriting was when I really tried.  Oh and let me tell you, I did NOT realize how wonderful typing was!  I had forgotten how much it hurts your hand to write that much, because I haven't written anything like that since Junior High!!  By the time I was finished my hand was cramped into a position that looked like some type of weird sign language.

Writing that letter got me thinking about all the letters my girlfriends and I used to write back and forth to each other in Junior High.  It was so much fun to write and receive letters from your girlfriends about who was "going out" with who and what boy liked what girl and what outfit we were wearing the next day.  I got tickled when I remembered all the jargon/lingo we used.  It's almost like Text messaging is now days except letter style..

For Instance...  "What's Up? NMH" was a favorite of mine.
Though I never used this method, My BFF always did:
"Just thought I'd
D
   R
     O
       P
You a line"    It made the letter look much longer when you used four whole lines for that clever little pun.
Of course if you were Going out with someone you always put "your initials + their initials" in a heart in the margin, that was always cool.
And you always signed TTYL  BF4Ever and then of course we added a ps pps and ppps, whether that was correct APA format, we never knew.
It was also cool to fold your letter a really weird way and then write To: and From: on it and have someone else pass it to them in the halls!

I'm no sure if the letter writing days are over yet but one day they will be replaced with IM's and Text messaging completely because Kids are getting cell phones younger and younger now days.  I'm sure when I have children they will cringe every time they hear me talk about writing letters to friends, kind of like I cringe when I hear the "I had to Walk to School when I was your age" speech I got from my Dad.

It's almost sad to think that letters are a thing of the past.   I would love getting hand written messages,  I love getting e-mails but a letter would be awesome because after writing that letter the my Grandmother I realize how much pain a friend would have to go through to make my day!  With the internet the world is getting smaller and smaller my friends!  I love staying in touch with old friends and meeting new ones, but I'm sad that my great grand children won't be able to look back at letters I wrote to home like I have been able to do with my Grandparents.  It's so neat to look at the letters they wrote and feel like they are somehow captured, their life happenings writing on that paper with their handwriting; knowing that they touched that page it gives me happiness! It preserves a little memory of them.  You can't just attach emotion and memories onto an e-mail like you can into a hand written letter.  (Which is ironic because you CAN attach things to e-mails but not letters in real life.)

Maybe we should all write down a few stories on paper and save them for future generations to stumble across and remember us by!  Has anyone else thought about stuff like this or am I the only weirdo ??   Also, did any of you guys write letters to your friends in Grade School??  Have any more fun lingo to add?!  I wanna hear it!

Have a great weekend!

I'm super excited that Kelly at Kelly & Co. gave me an award!!

You just have to go visit Kelly and look at all the creative stuff she bakes! She's always got something exciting going on in her life so her blog's never boring!!

Now, the rules of this award are pretty simple. I have to list 10 interesting facts about myself, (which will probably be more random than interesting), and then pass the award on to other lovely bloggers.

Ok I'm not real good at these kinds of things but I'll go ahead and tell you a little about my life for those of you who are just starting to read my blog.

1. I'm married to a guy I met three and 1/2 years ago. I met him at an "after Hours establishment" aka a bar, I was there for a Randy Rogers Concert and so was he. We spend most of our year at Rodeos or at least he does. His dream is to Rodeo Professionally.

2. I am the most scatter brained, messiest, forgetful, emotional person you'll ever meet....or at least Sean thinks so :) Seriously though, ask anyone you know. I loose everything and I have really bad memory problems. Sean gets put out with me because I'll tell him the same story like three times, not remembering I've ever told him before.

3. I have a fear of needles, the dark (or at least what's in the dark) and I refuse to watch horror movies. I pass out around needles, which you already know because of the post I wrote last week.

4. I love my dogs SOOOOO much!!! They are both spoiled rotten and I get in trouble for spoiling them because Apparently it makes them misbehave while duck hunting or something like that. Banjo is 1 and 1/2 and Birdie is 9 months. They are both Chocolate Labs.

5. I have Celiac Disease and can't eat Wheat. I am beginning to enjoy being allergic to wheat because I would weight 5,000 lbs if I could eat bread and cakes and cookies and doughnuts and fast food and all that unhealthy stuff.

6. I have discovered that I LOVE taking pictures. And better than that I LOVE learning about photography. I'm even looking into taking classes at the local college to get my minor in photography. I already have my B.A of Arts with a emphasis in Speech Communication.

7. In College I fell in love with a Persian kitten at the pet store and against my Dad's smarter judgment I bought the cat. I was told it was a female and I named her Lily and after giving her a bath about two weeks later I found out that She was really a HE. Unless girl cats have balls :) He decided he didn't want to use the litter box any more and I had to give him away.

8. I have two sisters, Leah 21, and Melissa 18 and one Brother In Law, Jason 19. Leah and Jason started dating around the same time Sean and I started dating, but neither one of us knew that our brother and sister even knew each other!!! They only dated about a year. Melissa is going to try out for the Razorback cheer squad next year and has a good shot!

9. I'm obsessed with FOX News. It's all I listen to on my XM radio.

10. This is THE MOST BORING 10 things about me EVER. Sorry!!

Ok so here are some of the people I want to give this award to!

Friday Post

It's Friday!! After a brief stay at Mom & Dad's complete with Sleeping in Late and a Massage, I'm back at work and back to blogging. I'm super excited about the upcoming week. The weather is supposed to be perfect, the low 80's with no chance of rain. Oh How I love Fall Weather!! I can smell football season! It has a smell, I promise.

My work computer crashed today and I lost a lot of valuable information and photos so I'm a little bummed. BUT I get a brand new computer, which is super exciting!!! I just bought a wireless mouse and keyboard which makes my desk super clean without wires everywhere. My mouse is really fun too! Instead of an hour glass when my computer is loading something, my mouse is a banana and it peels itself then disappears as if it's being eaten. It's so much fun! ha!

I don't have much to say today and MckMamma posted about herself so I think I'll do like she suggested and post about myself too. Although most of my readers already know me, some of them don't so here goes.

March 5th 1985 5:45pm I was born in Texarkana Tx a few days early. It would be the last time I was early for anything ever in my life. ever.

March 7th 1988, My sister Leah was born. I don't remember it. Erin was there being babysat by my grandmother who when to the hospital with my mom for her checkup when she went into labor. I was at home.

1990 I started Kindergarten. I remember dreading it and pulling into the parking lot thinking this was the first day of the rest of my school career. Even then I was sentimental. I also remember feeling like and idiot because the Kindergartners had to wear name tags and the first graders didn't.

1991 Melissa is born. We went to visit Mom and baby Melissa in the hospital and they wouldn't let us in her room to see her. Mom's room was on the ground floor and Dad snuck us in through the window.

Easter 1993 I gave my Life to Christ and was Baptized on Easter. I couldn't wait to tell everyone at school. I remember wondering if I would get water up my nose.

1997 Made Jr. High Cheerleader and started a 6 year long career of cheerleading for our School Mascot, The Scrappers.

Fast Forward to 2003 Graduated High School & Started College. Joined a Sorority and had a Blast!

2006 Met Sean at a Concert and we hit it off immediately and started Dating soon after. I knew he was the one within a few weeks! Odd thing was my sister and his brother were "talking" and started dating before Sean and I became Official Boyfriend/girlfriend. We didn't even know they knew each other.

2007 Sean moved to Houston in the Spring to work for Chevron and after Graduating college I soon followed.

Winter 2007, My relationship with Christ was strengthen dramatically when I learned to lean on him as I was extremely homesick. I also learned at this time that He is the only one who can offer true Happiness. I also got Engaged on the boardwalk in Kemah overlooking the Houston skyline.

Summer 2008 Sean and I got married and moved from Houston into a Rent House. We bought adopted Banjo!

One Month later: Rent house sold and we had to move out within 50 days of moving in. We had to move in with his parents while we looked for a place. We finally decided to put a house on his parents land and moved again. In two years I moved 6 times. Talk about stressful.

Spring 2009: Sean Gets Laid off and starts to look for new Jobs. Birdie is bought Adopted and Work picks up for me and Rodeo Season starts and Our income is supplemented by Sean's winnings.

Now: I'm Working hard and seeing a promising career unfolding, though Sean can't say the same. He's still looking for a promising career and in the Meantime, taking care of the farm and Rodeoing. I know God has a plan for me and Sean and I can't wait to look back and see what all has been done in our livhttp://www.mycharmingkids.net/es!

Boring huh? Now do the same so I can read about you!!

Holding on to Sanity

My Chocolate Children and my Hubby are driving me to insanity! Sean still hasn't found a job and is starting to get on my nerves. I mean, at first it was horrible but now it's getting better. At least now he's helping out around the house. He did the dishes and the laundry yesterday. And he cooks all the time! It's hay season so that is keeping him semi-busy. He's applied for a few jobs but they haven't worked out.

If you don't mind praying for us we kind of need it! Sean has won enough money at the rodeo to keep us in the black but it's getting tight! I'm really stressed out about it. We need prayers that a job Sean will like will come available soon and prayers that I can keep my sanity!

On to my Chocolate Children....Birdie snores. Birdie snores louder than Sean. Birdie also has a bad habit of jumping on the bed and couch. Sean is really getting mad about it. He's harsh with her because he says she is a dog and needs to mind. But I just can't get on to her. She looks at me with those big brown puppy eyes and I melt! She's such a sweet dog. She loves her momma. She's getting bigger every day, although we think she's gonna be a little on the small side. She now weighs 40 pounds, Banjo is a whopping 85.

Banjo doesn't snore but he has a tail that could take out a small child. His tail is so dangerous. He will knock over anything that is within "tail range" such as the water on my night stand, the decor on my sofa table. If you are sitting on the ground beware! If he walks near you it will hit you in the head. I swear he's almost knocked Birdie out. He has no awareness of his tail, I believe it has a mind of it's own. It just wags and knocks into everything. Especially at night when you're trying to be quite and let him out to pee or something and he hits everything, like the door or the dresser or like the other night at mom and dads house, the dryer in the laundry room. It made a thunderous sound and woke the whole house up

Ok now I'm done rambling. Sorry about the boring post, I just wanted to gripe a little.

Do any of your animals have annoying quirks ?

Arkansaw

I'm tired and sick with a summer sinus infection and don't feel like posting anything that requires too much thought. I just wanted to take this time to admit to everyone that I'm a law breaker, a rebel, a sinner! I've broken the law. I've flirted with a member of the opposite sex on the streets of Little Rock and according to Arkansas State Law, I should spend 30 days in jail for it!! You may wonder what in the world I'm talking about. According to bored.com (yes I'm bored) that is a real Arkansas State Law. Here are some more :
  • A law provides that school teachers who bob their hair will not get a raise.
  • A man can legally beat his wife, but not more than once a month.
  • A voter is only allowed five minutes to mark his ballot.
  • Alligators may not be kept in bathtubs.
  • An Arkansas legislator not long ago proposed that the state provide growth hormones to dwarfs.
  • At Arkansas State University two people cannot hold hands while standing in a doorway unless they belong to a union.
  • Fayetteville: It is illegal to kill "any living creature".
  • Flirtation between the members of the opposite sex on the streets of Little Rock may result in a 30-day jail term.
  • In Arkansas it is illegal to buy or sell blue light bulbs.
  • It's illegal to mispronounce the name of the state of Arkansas in that state. It's pronounced "Arkansaw"
  • Little Rock: Dogs may not bark after 6 PM
  • It is unlawful to walk one's cow down Main Street after 1:00 PM on Sunday
  • No person shall sound the horn on a vehicle at any place where cold drinks or sandwiches are served after 9:00 P.M.
  • Oral sex is considered to be sodomy.
  • The Arkansas legislature passed a law that states that the Arkansas River can rise no higher than to the Main Street bridge in Little Rock

Goodbye Monday

Is there anyone out their that actually likes Mondays? Maybe Monday's should be taken out of the week, but then I'd hate Tuesdays. Really though, it's not the whole Day of Monday that I hate, it's Monday mornings.
I had a sucky Saturday and an OK Sunday due to Celiac Disease and a major migraine but Friday I actually had a great time. So Friday afternoon around 2:30ish a major thunderstorm blew up and work was no longer a workplace. Everyone upstairs came running down stairs, the tornado sirens went off, and it rained so hard you could hardly see outside. There were limbs and trees down all over town! Sean and I were supposed to leave for a rodeo at 3:00 so I had to drive home in the storm, it had let up a little by then. When I got to the barn I found Sean running around in a camouflage rain poncho gathering up goats. A tree had fallen onto his mothers goat's pen and they all ran for the hills. It was a sight!
Sean and I were the only two to go to the rodeo so it was kind of fun. We took the scenic route to Lincoln,AR (up near Fayetteville) and got to see lots of beautiful scenery. We also saw a dairy farm. We don't have those around here in central Arkansas. It was neat to see all the black and white dairy cows! It was also nice to spend the evening alone with Sean. We are having one of Sean's friends from New Mexico stay with us for a few weeks so we aren't going to have many alone nights for awhile. By the way have you ever heard anyone from New Mexico speak? Their accent is really different!

Anyway I rounded out the weekend in bed with a migraine and cleaned the house a little.

Wow what a boring post, no wonder no one reads this thing! Here, here are some pictures of the dogs to make even more boring!
We hear a fourwheeler!
There it goes!Wait he's leaving!Ok Banjo How do I get out there?

Bye mom!
