Anyway we were just about to put on our foundation when the tornado sirens went off, as well as the electricity and all our phones started ringing. It was all our of husbands/parents/children calling to let us know about the tornado, like we didn't already know!
The next thing we did, which is what all Arkansans do when the tornado sirens go off, we went outside on the porch to look for the tornado. If you aren't from Tornado Alley and have no idea what a tornado looks like, sometimes it's not what you'd expect. The clouds come down out of the sky and hang real heavy like, but don't spin. It's called a wall cloud. It's from this wall cloud that the tornado forms. I watched the wall cloud pass by in the distance. The sky was an eerie blackish blue color and lightning was lighting up the cloud but never visable. It was sickning.
I didn't take this photo, I got it from ArkansasMatters.com, but this is exactly what I saw. I didn't have my camera with me! I never have my camera during exciting photo ops!
It was a scary feeling to watch that wall cloud. I'm just glad we were ok and no tornados dropped down while we were standing outside! Please remember those who were effected by the line of storms that came through last night in your prayers!
