See, I get my e-mail messages through my Blackberry. The other day my phone vibrated indicating I had a new message. I usually just get work messages or blogger comments (which are my favorite) but this e-mail message made me want to throw up with nervousness. It was my ENERGY BILL AHHHH! As I nervously opened the e-mail I was praying the bill was under $250. All Winter it stayed around $275 and seriously I was considering just letting them cut off the electricty this month if it was that High again and just try to rough it like Laura Ingalls...I mean I do have chickens now and everything.
I opened the message and scrolled down to the dreaded AMT DUE: line and low and behold a beautiful $145 stared back at me! (cue angels singing) I wanted to marry that beautiful $145 and love it forever! I couldn't believe it...then I remembered that we kept the air/heat off and opened the windows and used a small space heater for warmth. I also decided not to do laundry for the month of March which left Sean gripeing about laundry but AT LEAST I SAVED MONEY. Because that was my intentions from the get go...not because i'm tired of laundry or anything.
Anyway how appropriate that a few days later my blackberry buzzed with another message about a GIVE AWAY that was all about saving energy!! Earth Day is on April 22nd and it's turning 40 this year!! I would love to win this! And I will pledge to unplug things when they are not in use. And im going to really try to do this lol
I will pledge to stop being lazy & running the dishwasher 1/2 full!
That stuff looks delish!!!!
I'll be hanging my clothes on the line to dry now that the weather is nicer. (I better buy more clothespins! The winter seems to have ate them all.)
we have a programmable thermostat on our HVAC unit. It is fantastic, it allows the temperature to fluctuate during the day but then brings it back to the termperature that we want right before we get home. IT IS GREAT!
Ummm, granola bars are like my favorite things on the whole wide world (well second to cereal, I guess ;-)) Thanks for the yummy giveaway!!
I am sooo diligent on keeping our lights off when they're not being used. We keep the windows open as long as we can before turning on the air too.
Happy Tuesday, Jenna! :-)
I turn off lights in rooms that are empty and unplug stuff when not in use. I also use energy efficient light bulbs.
I unplug all the appliances not in use!

clothed much, a modest fashion blog
Less TV and only running full loads of laundry and dishes are my ways to cut down:-)
I pledge to stop running the washing machine half full (and less) just because I want one particular item cleaned!
Very fun giveaway! I've been trying to unplug things when not in use!
I will lower the temperature on my thermostat to save energy in the winter. I don't have central air, but if I did I would also up the temp. in the summer. :)

We are hoping to get new energy efficient windows soon. One at a time is all we can afford, but I know it will help. We turn off lights as we leave the room, wash all clothes in cold and trying to keep the air off as long as possible.

It's so easy to do this in Australia because there are little on and off buttons next to switch outlets there, but when I am home in California I make an effort to unplug all of my electronic things I am not using right then and there.
I could (should!) save energy by taking the bus to work on days when I don't have a lot of stuff to haul--good reminder, thanks, because that's a lot easier to do when the weather is nicer.
Thanks for the chance to win!

I'm trying to do a better job turning out the lights when I leave a room. That's a really bad habit I have.
Hi1 I try to use cold water for washing clothes and use the dryer on a low setting. I also unplug everything that it is not in use everyday as well.
Thanks for the great giveaway! :)

I'm going to quit being lazy about hanging laundry on the line. I do it most of the time, but some days it's just so hard!
I want this!! I pledge to unplug everything when not in use, I also use cold water and low settings on the washing machine/dryer!
We have a big house, so at night we don't heat it. We just heat our room with a space heater and it saves us a ton.

Yum! This time of year we are just about to turn off the heat, and dry all the laundry outdoors, and work by daylight, but I'll also be trying to unplug all the chargers, and actually turn the computer right off at night, as well as doing some handwashing of items I've run out of, instead of doing a small laundry.

ooh great giveaway - we are saving energy by getting a new energy star rated deep freeze since our old one died.
I will take the bus to work more. I have a bus pass, but get so lazy and just drive most days. To not have another car on the road will help reduce my carbon foot print, and I need to use that bus pass anyway!
not using the dryer and hanging out my clothes in the summer weather!
luckily, we have a ton of windows in our house, so now that the days are getting longer, we are trying not to use lights at all during the day. Also, I will make a point to hang my laundry outside more often than I have been!

Cascadian Farms makes my fav granola. I will pledge to only use hot water when necessary, and to keep lights off until dark.
