Something about the American Idol theme music reminds me that spring is approaching and takes me back to College nights when my roommate and I would sit on the couch with the windows open, letting in the spring air and judging the contestants. We would rate them 1-10 and then only vote once for the top singers, believing our one vote would've mattered.
That was all before you could vote 100 times simultaneously and it was much less complicated. You could actually tell who sucked and who was good and who had potential..but after hearing last night's performance and listening all that talk about "star like" quality, and being more original...I was confused on who to vote for...so I just didn't vote.
I've also decided it's ridiculous to even try to predict who will be kicked off on Thursday because in my opinion it's anyone's game...
I would just like to add that I, in no way whatsoever have any business judging any of these ladies and their voices but I'm going to anyway...because it's fun :)
...I took notes during the show :)
And I apparently left the first page somewhere between here and home so I will have to just do contestant 1-3 from memory.
1. Paige Miles-beautiful eyes and hair. She sang a power song..I remember her voice being awesome, her hitting a few off notes, and her music and back up voices being really loud. I think she will go far. I also remembered her wearing a jumpsuit she was SEWN into???? And she had to pee. I remember when we went duck hunting and I had on those waders and was in three feet deep water and I had to pee for four hours....I wouldn't have been able to hit the notes she did, let a lone move...I also wouldn't have told 2 bazillion viewers that I was sewn into my suit and had to pee.
2. Ashley Rodrriguez- she wasn't very memorable. I remember it being ok. She was nervous and pitchy though.
3. Janell Wheeler. I think she was the blonde that had the curtain tassels on as earrings. She was ok, good voice but picked the wrong song. She should've played her guitar. She's cute.
5. Katlyn Epperly- HAIR. RED LIP STICK. HAIR. UGLY RED LIPSTICK. WILD HAIR. And she could sing pretty good and looked comfortable on stage.
6. Haeley Vaughn- I'm sorry but I can't stop looking at her mouth! It's huge and smiley all the time. She also looked a little bit like a cabbage patch doll, or a trick-o-treater in a sexy nurse costume. I can't find a photo of her outfit so those of you who missed it be glad (though I'm pretty sure people that didn't watch AI aren't reading this post.) I liked her voice though...it was all over the place but it's really clear and I like that...her high voice was a little ear numbing though.. But I think she has potential
I just realized that anyone who stumbles across my blog and reads it once won't get half of the things I reference back to..like the bath tub...but I guess they just need to visit more :)
7. Laci Brown: I LOVE her hair...I wish I could pull off her look, but I totally can't even begin to. I liked her voice but for some reason our Satellite was messing up throughout her entire performance so I couldn't tell, but apparently the judges didn't like it...but I really like her voice and she looked so scared so hopefully she can get over the stage fright and show us what she can really do!
8. Michelle Delanor- If it were possible for Eva Longoria-Parker and Eva Mendez to have a baby it would look like Michelle Delanor. She had the cutest outfit on and I loved her hair. She definitely has star quality and even though some of the parts were pitchy I actually really enjoyed her performance.

9. DiDi Benami- Is Brooke White from a few season's ago her twin? Is she really Brook White in disguise trying to win again? Well I love both of their voices so I'm ok if it is. Her voice is so clear I just love it, and I'm not ever afraid that she'll hit a bad note. Oh and was she wearing a rainbow colored afghan over her shirt? I'm confused with that style?
11. Crystal Bowersox- I love Alannis so I was immediately excited. She did an awesome job and I'm in love with her voice and I want to brush her hair. I predict her to go really really far.
12. Katie Stevens- Young, Annoying, tried too hard. Annoying. She got into the performance that's for sure. She had fun so I guess that's good. She's annoying though. I didn't like her voice...She is more of an on Broadway singer to me.
Well That's my two cents. I really liked Ellen in place of whatserface She was funny and didn't talk about how wonderful they looked instead of their performance. The skit with Ellen and Simon was hilarious!!! And mom and I both agreed that Ryan Seacrest wins "best dressed."
And again I do realize that I have no business judging these ladies but anyone of them can come to my house and watch me sing and judge me if they'd like. And they can bring Casey James along with him so I can stare at him and drool.

OK we are in agreement! Love Lily for the most part, Katelynn looked totally trashy but she sing, Siobhan CREEPS me out (is she foreign?) she looks just like Ally Sheedy in The Breakfast Club and love me some Krystal Bowersox and I am so glad she whitened her teeth hahaha! Oh and it hurts my ears when Haley sings...she annoys me. She is all mouth!
I agree about Crystal. I love her voice but I really want to give her a makeover.
You are spot on! Crystal needs a hair brushing, Katie needs some help from Richard Gere in Pretty Woman, and I cannot wait to see Casey James tonight!
I hear ya on American Idol bring back memories... my favorite memory was in 2006 when I was student teaching and Greg and his dad had moved up to Minnesota already, so I was living with my mother in law. It was such a beautiful spring that year and when I'd get out of school, I'd go for a run and then we'd watch AI together :-)
Soo... LOVED your recap! I totally agree with you on almost everything. I too was confused with what Didi and Siobhan were wearing! And I had a fun time watching Ellen too, I think she's a great addition! CAN NOT wait for the boys tonight :-D
I shoulda gave my recap on everyone! HAHA! You are so funny. "BIG HAIR RED LIPS oh & she sang good" HAHAHA. But yeah - that girl's hair was huge. Unfortunately i missed her singing b/c i got a phone call w/ someone i'd been playing phone tag with & had to get it. Go figure since i NEVER talk on the phone!
Anyway - i liked Siobhan but i did think "what shoes are she wearing?" HAHA.
Hayley is adorable to me - she really has star quality, that sparkly something, ya know? But she is so young, a little annoying, & pitchy. But still good. I liked her. My family hated her. HAHA. (mom & i texting the whoel time).
I just love Lacey; she is so sweet but her vocals were terrible. She can do better though!
& OMG i thought the same about the girl that looks like Brooke White & that other girl looking like ...crap. forgot her name. not longoria. the other one!!!

Okay, I'm probably the only one in the world NOT watching AI, but I do still read your posts. Or skim rather. :)
I watched a couple prior seasons of AI (Jordyn Sparks, Taylor whatshisname, and David Cook - love him!). I just can't get into it the past couple years. I think David Cook spoiled me so that no one else can measure up. :)

I totally thought the same thing about Brooke/DiDi ...they are like the same person to me. But I like them both.
Excited to see tonights performance, and hopefully they all do a little better this 2nd week.
